THEORY CLASSES
Theory is the study of the fundamentals of Occidental music. It includes intervals, scales, chords, harmonic analysis, musical form and counterpoint. Students are grouped according to their level of musical knowledge, to be determined by the Conservatory. Children and adults have separate classes.
MUSIC THEORY & COMPOSITION
Students are taught the basic music theory as it applies to various styles of composition. Jazz, blues, pop, and classical styles are explored with regard to harmony, melody and rhythm.
ENSEMBLE CLASSES
Auditions are required for all Ensemble Classes so that students of similar performance levels can be matched. Chamber music study is recommended for all intermediate and advanced instrumental students.
MUSIC HISTORY
Lectures and performances are combined to give a general survey of the development of Occidental music.
Rhythm Classes for Young Children
This class is an excellent class for developing rhythmic skills which are necessary for the study of an instrument. Rhythmic notation and rhythms from various parts of the world are studied.
